"These People" are "We the People"

Over the past few years I have had the privilege of stepping away from the twin-Ivory Towers of Academia and Corporate America and into well-over 2000 homes of ordinary American people.

Over the past few years I have had the privilege of stepping away from the twin-Ivory Towers of Academia and Corporate America and into well-over 2000 homes of ordinary American people. As I travelled from rural shack to urban enclave, I came to the conclusion that most of America looks just like me!

No, not stocky with toasted almond-colored eyes and skin to match. Rather, most Americans looked like imperfect people with scarred pasts and dreams seemingly much larger than what reality could birth. All different shades of beautiful with varying creeds — each desiring to breathe free air. Frustrated by the dissonance of familiar voices that have been distorted by identity politics — all searching for better opportunities, albeit with imperfect and worn out tools. We each were trying to navigate the intelligently designed, but incredibly flawed societal systems.

It was in the homes of "these people" — that had different palates, different wardrobes, and different beliefs — that I saw how much we actually resembled. I realized that "these people" were the "We the People" that our Constitution spoke of; "These people" were the children that God ransomed HIS own son for; and "These people" were the neighbors that Jesus commanded us to Love.

Yes, each one of us are "these people."
